Bloodwood lumber has heartwood that is deep, bright, vivid red. Sapwood is a pale yellowish color which is uncommonly seen. Color darkens to brownish red when exposed to light over time. The principal use of Bloodwood is guitar bodies, furniture, inlays, accents, turning and scroll saw work.

Lumber Characteristics
Availability:
Available in 3 foot up to 16 foot in widths from 2 inches to 12 inches or wider. Wide stock is less available than narrow boards. The best stock will be at width range of 4-6″. Widths and lengths vary depending on current stock.
Workability:
Bloodwood is very dense and has a major blunting effect on cutters. This wood is brittle and splinters easily when working with it. Finishes with a lustrous red surface.
